About Designworks Collective

Designworks Collective (DWC) is a global powerhouse of curated lifestyle brands. Known as a “studio of curators, thinkers, and makers,” they lead the industry in blending high-end design with functional utility.

Designworks Collective partnered with Bitcube to resolve a major bottleneck. Their core need was to move a codebase built by a different agency for a single brand to support all of their brands in a unified, scalable architecture. The goal was to streamline international operations while introducing a cohesive overall brand feel across individual, unique brands

The Challenge

Before our intervention, Designworks Collective faced a “fragmentation tax” that severely hindered their agility and brand growth. Their storefronts had all been built independently, leading to each of them having different feature sets and functionality.

This created a massive operational headache where each of the six regional stores functioned as a silo. Any small bug fix or new feature had to be manually built and uploaded six different times. This led to high overhead, frequent human error, and a “logistical nightmare” when trying to launch campaigns. Because each store’s code was slightly different, the customer experience varied by region, which began to dilute their premium brand identity.

Our Solution

Our team carried out a full architectural consolidation and modernisation initiative. We began with a thorough audit of the legacy codebase, removing unnecessary complexity and re-evaluating the original design to build a high-performance Master Shopify Theme.

Rather than managing each brand as an independent project, we unified all six brand stores under a single, robust codebase. To address deployment inefficiencies, we introduced an automated pipeline that allows developers to build a feature once, validate it, and roll it out across all six stores at the same time. This ensures consistency across the ecosystem while still supporting regional requirements such as local currencies and tailored content.

The Results

The transformation delivered immediate value to DWC’s operations, streamlining the Shopify development workflow to reduce global feature rollout times from weeks to days. By refactoring code for faster performance and ensuring a consistent experience across all international storefronts, the project directly fueled a successful 2025: Paddywax Candles achieved a 23% increase in total sales on a 21% rise in orders, while Designworks Ink realised a 17% growth in both sales and orders. These systemic improvements not only boosted conversion rates but also secured long-term cost efficiency by eliminating the need for repetitive manual updates.
